Upon graduation from Academy, assigned to security systems management on Starbase 173. In 2370, transferred to security detail, Office of the Federation President. Upon a state visit to planet called Parliament, DeCurtis showed exceptional valor by thwarting an assassination attempt upon the president by Romulan operatives.
In 2370, DeCurtis was transferred to Deep Space Nine, specializing in security systems and with training in operations. DeCurtis assisted with security preparations on the station for peace talks between the Paradan government and anti-government rebels, scheduled for Stardate 47581. When the Paradan government replaced Chief of Operations Miles O'Brien with a cloned replicant, programmed to assassinate rebel negotiators, DeCurtis assisted DS9 command personnel in isolating the replicant from sensitive systems and areas of the station.
In 2374, DeCurtis assisted DS9 Federation personnel in sabotaging station computer systems before the evacuation of Deep Space Nine, prior to its re-occupation by the Dominion-Cardassian Alliance.
